This is the second of a three-part blog series from S.O.S advisor & NBA referee Pat Fraher entitled 'Define Eternity'. In this this video, Pat explains his heart for this critical message.
In my previous post, I asked you to ‘Define Eternity’, and to consider something that we don’t really think about: It’s unending. Specifically, we looked at the reality of Hell’s existence, and the fact that you don’t want to experience one second of that place, or worse yet, unending torment and separation from God.
Scientific research has suggested that it is more effective to concentrate on what you want to accomplish, versus what you want to avoid, so if Hell wasn’t enough motivation for you to consider your eternal destination, I want to give you the other side to eternity to focus on – Heaven!
Although we don’t know much about Heaven, there are specific things that are mentioned in Revelation 21. It states, “the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.” It also states, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
No more bad days… ever. Sounds pretty good to me.
Although we don’t know exactly what we’ll be doing in Heaven, we do know that God has good things in mind. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived- the things God has prepared for those who love Him-“ What I do know, and look forward to, is being reunited with loved ones, getting all of my questions from my life answered, and meeting the Creator.
Just as Hell is the worst eternal outcome you can have, Heaven is the best reward you can receive. Living with indescribable joy, peace and love for all eternity with loved ones and your Creator… sign me up.
